FAMILY DAY: EVERYDAY FOR THE FINLAYSONs

Kelly, Scott, Brooke (missing: Hannah)

Family Day celebrates the significance of families and the bonds that unite them. It reminds us to prioritize spending quality time with loved ones. This time together strengthens emotional bonds and creates lasting memories. Family Day encourages activities that promote togetherness and fosters a positive atmosphere within the family unit. It serves as a reminder to cherish and appreciate the presence of family members, affirming the crucial role they play in our well-being and happiness.

At Jolt Fitness, we love seeing families support each other in building strong muscles and bonds while working out together. Whether it's new moms exercising with their babies learning the in’s and out’s of their new lives together or adult children spotting their parents on a heavy bench press, or grandparents working alongside grandchildren; we're inspired by the dedication and togetherness of our fitness community.

Our mission is to inspire the entire Huron County community to build resilient bodies and create high quality lives. When we train entire families like the Finlaysons, we know we are well on our way to achieving our mission.

The Finlaysons

KELLY FINLAYSON:

I was nervous about joining Jolt Fitness because of my preconceived ideas about gym culture that I didn’t think I would fit into. I was not in great shape and I had a lack of confidence about attending classes and starting something new.

I love this question because the results I’ve achieved have been so amazing. I’ve certainly gained strength as you’d expect by going to lift classes regularly. However I’ve also learned:

  1. Healthy ways to approach food and nutrition from working with coach Bri

  2. Improved my mobility with the help of coach Emma

  3. Increased my cardio in classes with coach Tanya

And I have met amazing people who encourage each other and have lots of fun. I LOVE going to the gym and I make it a priority for my physical and mental health. I also love that no matter who is at the front desk when you walk in, they use your name when saying hello. Every. Single. Time. The way that each coach brings their own personality to each class but maintains standard approaches to warmups, instruction and cool down. It’s hard to explain it but it feels organized, and professional. Jolt Fitness welcomes you in right away and meets you where you are at. No judgment and no pressure. Just kind, consistent encouragement.

Brooke FINLAYSON:

I was hesitant about the “gym culture”. My previous experience when going to a gym was from a very intense sports driven lens in order to train for hockey. I had never had an experience with a gym to work on my health and wellness before so when I didn’t have hockey as the driving force behind going to the gym I didn’t really know where to start. I have been able to create an achievable and productive gym routine that allows me to move my body to benefit my mental health.

What I like best about working with Jolt Fitness:

  • The structured classes takes out the unknown of what to do to complete a good workout, with the freedom to hit your sets at your own pace

  • Different trainers teaching the classes gives a well rounded perspective on form and fitness

In the past I’d go to the gym to only better my sports performance solely based on testing scores and personal bests. Sometimes this came at a cost to my confidence and mental health. Now, I am proud to say I go to the gym looking forward to spending time with my mom (shoutout mom), meeting new people, and bettering my overall health and wellness. With the added bonus of increased strength and improved cardio.

Going back to the gym after a long time off, i was wary of my skill level and being way behind everybody else. What’s important about Jolt is the inclusivity of the community, I felt this immediately walking into the doors for my first class. From the team at the front desk, the trainers and Siggy - everyone is there to welcome you in where you’re at.

Scott FINLAYSON:

1. What hesitations did you have about working with Jolt Fitness?

Joining a gym being very aware of how out of shape I was and having had spinal surgery made me hesitant that I would re-injure myself.

2. What results have you achieved or how have you benefited since joining Jolt Fitness?

I have gained strength and flexibility which have helped me protect my back and feel stronger and more energized.

I couldn’t of gotten to where I am without Coach Rayna!!

3. What did you like best about working with Jolt?

I really enjoy going to the gym with my family, the atmosphere is not intimidating and all the trainers are personable and friendly.

4. What, if anything, was different from your fitness experiences in the past?

This is my first experience with a trainer and with a gym membership. I’ve always worked in manual labour jobs and never thought I needed to go to a gym. Since working with Jolt Fitness and seeing the improvements Rayna helped me make, I recommend this place to everyone.

We felt truly inspired to share the story of the Finlayson family this Family Day. It was amazing to see Brooke spotting her mom as she tackled a heavy, loaded barbell bench press. Moreover, the sight of Kelly and Scott lifting side by side in our classes is a testament to the strength of this family - physically and emotionally. When we established Jolt Fitness, our primary aim was to inspire and welcome the entire community. Witnessing families like the Finlaysons become part of the Jolt Fam reaffirms that we are progressing toward achieving our mission of building resilient bodies and creating high-quality lives in Huron County. To the Finlaysons and all the families who have made Jolt Fitness their second home, you inspire us and the entire Jolt Fam!
